Hello friends! We're going to discuss Bornature PLA textile today. PLA is short for polylactic acid. Which is when our garments are derived from plants! Isn’t that cool? In the area of eco-fashion, PLA textile is quickly gaining a lot of popularity. Eco fashion is clothes that look good and do good for the planet. And we all need to do our part as responsible consumers of clothing.
Environmental impact becomes more and more important for all of us and our choices have a big influence on the climate. And this is why PLA textile is gaining in popularity! It comes from plants such as corn, sugar cane or cassava. These plants are special, because they grow back so quickly that we don’t have to worry about running out of them. These are different from non-renewable resources like oil, which require long formation times and can be depleted. PLA fibre is also biodegradable. That means it is biodegradable, so it will decompose over time, and when we throw it away, it won’t do harm to the earth.
There are many reasons why PLA textile is a great option for eco-friendly fashion. First of all, it's renewable, which means we can continue to use those plants repeatedly. This is good for the earth because it lets us consume fewer of the resources we have that are limited. It’s also biodegradable, so it won’t sit in a landfill for decades the way some fabrics do. One could feel good about wearing PLA textile as it helps the earth.
It's easier than it sounds to make PLA textile! First, plants are harvested, and then transformed into a type of sugar called glucose. This is a significant step, because glucose contributes to the development of the fabric. The glucose is then fermented. Fermentation is when it mixes with little living things called bacteria. These bacteria transform the glucose into lactic acid.
Then this lactic acid gets spun into a long chain, a polymer. PLA textile is made of this polymer! It’s a special recipe for stitching many small molecules together to create something new and helpful. Last this polymer is then transformed into the thread which is used to make our clothes. Following each stage of the process ensures that both final fabric quality is high, and a fine for the environment.
PLA textile is revolutionizing the fashion world by offering a new way to produce apparel that is sustainable. The fashion industry has had a detrimental impact on the environment for decades with the production of garments that often sit in landfills for years, made of non-renewable materials. This is not great for planet Earth. PLA textile allows us to produce soft and comfortable garments that are biodegradable. It means they’ll decompose naturally and they won’t linger in landfills for eternity.
And on top of that, we are using renewable resources to produce this clothing!” This allows us all to make more environmentally friendly choices. We wish for eco fashion with PLA textile to be chosen more and more. Doing this all can help each, individual to play their part in order to save the mother nature and have a cleaner environment for ourselves.
