Bornature has its very own recycled PES fabric, and recycling is super awesome! Have you heard about this special fabric? It is made of old plastic bottles that we typically discard. This is a fabric with multiple fantastic properties that are kind to our planet!
PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate. That’s a long and fancy name for what we call plastic bottles, mostly. You do know that plastic bottles are bad for the environment, because it can take them hundreds of years to break down or decompose. That is to say, they linger in our landfills and oceans for a long time, and that can be damaging to animals and nature. However, they found out that these empty plastic bottles can be turn into something useful and helpful by recycling them into PES fabric!
In fact, designing the recycled PES fabric and creating it are both fun and cool! People are gathering plastic bottles from recycling bins and areas where people trow it away. They then sort these bottles based on color which is essential for achieving a nice end fabric. The bottles are then cleaned to ensure they are disinfected. Then, they shred the pristine bottles into tiny bits — tiny bits of plastic. It is then melted into little bits and formed into fibers, which are the long, thin strands. Finally, these are spun into threads and woven into fabric. Not just being clever in this way, allows us to reuse things that otherwise pollute.
When you choose Recycled PES fabric you help in waste reduction. We can also contribute to a cleaner, safer world for all creatures great and small by using plastic that may otherwise have found its way into a landfill or the ocean. Then, this is so important because pollution can be harmful to animals and plants. Importantly, manufacturing recycled PES fabric requires using less energy and resource compared to producing new PES (the virgin PES has to undergo polymerization). We're not only saving energy but we're also conserving our natural resources—things everyone should care about!
But that’s not all! Recycling PES fabric is durable and versatile. It can be used for all sorts of products, including clothes, bags, and even furniture. As it is made with plastic, it is also a water-proof material; meaning it can keep things dry. This is ideal for outdoor pursuits, such as camping or a trip to the beach — when you might get wet.
Recycled PES fabric is really versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes! For example, it can be turned into a soft sports shirt that wicks sweat and dries fast. This is fantastic when you are playing sports or working out because that comforts you. Or it can be transformed into a stylish bag, one that’s not only pleasant to wear but simple to clean. Recycled PES fabric is often used to make comfortable eco-furniture such as sofas and chairs.
Saving the environment ג€“ this is how the recycled PES fabric plays an important role, and this is the reason more and more fashion brands are adopting the use of this fabric as it is not only good for the environment but also looks trendy when worn. Here at Bornature we constantly creating beautiful, functional products that look great and feel great to wear, using only upcycled PES material. We practice environmental stewardship and want to do better by and for the planet. To that end, part of the reason we offer so many recycled PES fabric products is because those are the products that we want to have in the public consciousness, that meet our high standards regarding quality and sustainability.
